Who is Mrs. Cutshall-Craft?: Mrs. Cutshall Craft started as a Cooperative Education instructor at Crawford Tech in January 2023. She previously taught Learning Support and was the Transition Coordinator at Crawford Central School District for over 20 years. While in college, Mrs. Cutshall-Craft worked in various industrial fields to support paying for her tuition towards her teaching degree.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mrs. Cutshall-Craft’s favorite part of teaching is when she is able to see her students succeed.

Outside of School: When Mrs. Cutshall-Craft is not at school; she enjoys fishing and hunting, especially archery. She is a 4-H leader and enjoys being involved in activities. She also loves to find time to read.

Who is Chef Brown?: Chef Brown has been the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management Instructor at Crawford Tech since 2017. He has an Associates in Applied Specialized Science of Culinary Arts from Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts and holds a Chef de Cuisine Certification from the American Culinary Federation.

Prior to teaching, Chef Brown has worked at many different locations, each with its own opportunities to learn and gain experience. A few of these places include: family restaurant, senior center, kids camp, fine dining, ski resort, guest ranch resort, hunting outfitter, private club, and more.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Chef Brown enjoys watching students realize they truly know what he has been patiently trying to show them. It is fun to watch the students own the kitchen classroom and work together as a team to maintain it.

Outside of School: When Chef Brown is not in the classroom he enjoys spending time with his family as a husband and father. He also enjoys playing guitar and performing. He likes being outside hiking, fishing, unting, and backpacking long distances. When he has time off, he enjoys traveling around the country with his family.

Who is Mr. Kightlinger?: Mr. Kightlinger has been the Electronics Technology teacher at Crawford Tech since 2012. He is a graduate of the Crawford County AVTS Electronics Technology program and Meadville Area Senior High School. He has been an electronics hobbyist since he was 12 years old, and in 1984 he began working in radio at WEOZ where he did small engine repair/circuit designs and studio production in addition to being an on-air personality. Following that first job, he continued his experience in different areas of electronics, including: repair facilities for the Dahlkemper Corporation, J.B Service, and North End Service in Meadville. In 1999, he and his late-wife purchased the business and kept it open for 20 years. After that, his focus turned towards his passion of teaching students Electronics Technology.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mr. Kightlinger had a difficult time narrowing down his favorite part of teaching. He loves what he does, although he contributes most of his gray hair to his students, he also feels that they keep him young. He lives for those ‘light bulb’ moments; those times when he can see it in the student’s eye that they understand the concept. Many of his students keep in contact after graduation with their own success stories, completing the circle for him.

Outside of School: When Mr. Kightlinger is not at school; he enjoys gardening and landscaping at his home. He also likes cooking, hunting, fishing, and astrology. Mr. Kightlinger is well known for his collection of fun ties and socks that he wears fashionably throughout the school year.

Who is Mr. Shearer?: Mr. Nick Shearer has been teaching at Crawford Tech since 2007. He is a graduate of the Diesel Technology Program at the former Crawford County AVTS. Mr. Shearer is a licensed private pilot and is a certified Master Technician through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Mr. Shearer is also the State Inspection instructor for Crawford Tech’s Adult Evening Program.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mr. Shearer’s favorite part of teaching is the students. He enjoys being able to work alongside students and help them to learn new skills and become diesel technicians.

Outside of School: When Mr. Shearer is not teaching; he enjoys spending time with his family and working on his farm. He tries to be outside as much as possible and says he always ends up finding some diesel equipment to work on.

Who is Mrs. Hunter?: Mrs. Michele Hunter has been working in the computer field for over 30 years. She is a graduate of Edinboro University with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics. She graduated Cum Laude and was awarded the Computer Science departmental award. Prior to coming to Crawford Tech in 2011, she has held many positions including Computer Analyst, Programmer, Software Specialist, Help Desk Coordinator, Smart Classroom Design and Construction Manager and instructor of business and computer classes. Mrs. Hunter worked for the Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg, Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, Syscon, Inc. in Virginia (programming for the US Army), Allegheny College (1990-2003) and Conneaut Valley High School(2006-2011).

Mrs. Hunter returned to school and earned from Mercyhurst College her Pennsylvania Level II Teaching Certification, and later acquired her vocational certification through Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is both CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ Certified.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mrs. Hunter’s favorite part of teaching is when students have that look of the lightbulb going off when they make a connection from reading to understanding how things work. Also when previous graduates return to the classroom to visit and share their IT work experience with the students. This is a great way to give back to the program.

Outside of School: When Mrs. Hunter is not teaching, she enjoys kayaking and being outside. She has a Karate Red Belt in Tang Soo Do. She also enjoys buying and driving vintage Ford and Chevy muscle cars.

Who is Mrs. Graff?: Mrs. Graff has been teaching Veterinary Technology at Crawford Tech since 2022. She graduated from Titusville Area High School and then studied at the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh. She graduated from the Vet Tech Program and received her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2014. Shortly after graduating, she passed the Veterinary Technician National Examination and became a  Certified Veterinary Technician. Mrs. Graff worked in the veterinary field for 8 years prior to her teaching at Crawford Tech. She has experience working with small and large animals alongside many veterinarians at Greener Pastures Veterinary Services in Saegertown. She also has many years of 4-H experience working with students and animals.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mrs. Graff loves being able to share her knowledge with other individuals who share the same interest and passion for animals.

Outside of School: When Mrs. Graff is not teaching, she spends her time with her family and taking care of her little hobby farm. She likes to trail ride with horses, go for hikes, hunt, play guitar, and sing. Every spring she plants a garden and flowers. She is also very involved in the Spartansburg Community Fair, where she is chairperson of the draft horse department.

Who is Ms. Deets?: Ms. Deets has been the Cosmetology instructor at Crawford Tech since 2014. She is a graduate of Venango Technology Center Cosmetology program and spent time after graduation working at various private and chain salons while earning her teaching license. To stay current in the ever changing beauty industry, Ms. Deets takes various hands-on cosmetology classes and attends hair shows.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Ms. Deets’  favorite part of teaching is being able to inspire students and give them a path in life. She loves making a positive impact on students and being able to help them gain a career right out of high school. Teaching is her passion and she could not imagine ever doing anything else.

Outside of School: When Ms. Deets is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles. She also enjoys rifle hunting, working on home improvement projects, baking, reading, and spending plenty of time outdoors.

Words from Ms. Deets: “I would recommend students consider Crawford Tech. I think being able to learn a trade while in high school is an amazing opportunity that many students don’t realize is available to them.”

Who is Mr. Brown?: Mr. Brown has been the Drafting and Design teacher since 2011. Prior to teaching he worked in the drafting field for over 20 years perfecting his skills. He is a graduate of the former Crawford County AVTS Drafting program. He has been trained in areas including cutting tools, automated machinery, plastic injection molding, and diecast molding. He is well versed with traditional drafting on a drawing board as well as 2D computer aided drafting and 3D solid modeling.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mr. Brown’s favorite part of teaching is being able to see the transition of new students as they progress through the program and become able to take on projects independently using their skills.

Outside of School: When Mr. Brown is not teaching, he dabbles in many different hobbies. A few of his favorites include: online gaming, hobby electronics, woodworking, motorcycle riding, and model rockets.

Who is Mr. Hillwig?: Mr. Hillwig has been teaching Precision Machining at Crawford Tech for 24+ years. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Edinboro University of PA, his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University of PA and is currently working on his Master’s degree from California State University of PA. Mr. Hillwig received his Vocational Instructional II Certificate from Indiana University of PA. He received an Instructor Certification from Fanuc Robotics of America and has taken numerous Tool and Die courses. Mr. Hillwig holds all Level I & II National Institute for Metalworking Skills Certificates available (NIMS).

Who is Mr. Moutsos?: Mr. Moutsos has been teaching Welding at Crawford Tech since 2017. He teaches at the Satellite Welding location at Conneaut Valley Middle School. He is a graduate of Lincoln Electric Welding School in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Moutsos has welding certifications from the American Welding Society (AWS D1.1) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME Section IX).

Mr. Moutsos has over 20 years of experience in the welding industry. Prior to teaching, he was employed by Joy Mining Machinery as a fabrication welder, building continuous miners and haulage systems for the coal industry.

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mr. Moutsos’ favorite part of teaching is being able to watch the students gain confidence as they learn to weld.

Outside of School: When Mr. Moutsos is not teaching, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He prefers any activities that allow him to spend time outdoors
